    "Trust me" The ring of truth—and where it went.

    "Funny how just a few weeks can make all the difference in how something plays in broad cultural terms. Take the opening two minutes to last night’s Trust Me episode: Our star creative team is ogling a beautiful boat, with Conner (Tom Cavenaugh) suggesting that Mason (Eric McCormack) should pick one up, even though he’s not yet received news of any raise attached to his promotion to creative director. Six months or a year ago when this was probably written, this is standard Big Agency stuff that comes with the turf. Today, with the economy seemingly tottering on a dark precipice? Not so much. (Ironically, virtually the same scene, but with a fancy early ‘60’s Cadillac in the role of the boat, played out In the first season of Mad Men, and it felt perfect.)"
