Twitter Commencement
Monday, May 18, 2009 at 6:53PM Not surprisingly, when your main audience is a generation full of texters, Facebook users and generally new media savvy-types, you start delivering your significant experiences in new ways. This past few days and weeks saw Twitter grab a cap and gown in a few ways, only a few of them linked below:
UC Merced Twittered their commencement... As did the University of Southern Maine. Vanderbilt actually highlighted all Tweets relating to theirs (#VU2009), similar to what Concordia College did (essentially aggregating all Tweets with #ccgrad). Bingham University used Twitter to remind seniors about things they'd need, while even Arizona State University gave a Tweet (if not about the honorary degree).
And for the record, just because your institution didn't Tweet officially, it doesn't mean others won't take the task for you as Notre Dame's Obama address saw.
Find a few more examples of Twitter used at graduations here from the Director of Web Communications and Electronic Media at Gettysburg College.
